A little stand with big ambitions
Maria and Mitch Smielowitz opened Mad Dogs Hot Dogs on Tamiami Trail in March 2010 with a simple idea: make the humble hot dog genuinely extraordinary. Fifteen years later, they're still at it — and Florida has noticed.

Saw this place on our way to Lowe's and all knew we had to go back that way for lunch. So glad we did! Everything was delicious! Came out super hot and fresh and the service was amazing!! They cut up our son's hot dog for him since he loves it that way. Awesome place! We will be back for sure with our parents.

If you like chili cheese dogs then you will LOVE this place! Honest truth the chili was exceptional, the fries needed more love but I came for the dogs. The smoothie that I tasted was the freshest tasting smoothie ever. It’s easy to go in the wrong entrance for the driveway, but after you get through that, the people are very pleasant and helpful, and like I said.. chili dogs are exceptional

This was our first time here! The girl that took our order did an outstanding job. She was very helpful, quick, super polite, and informative. The food was great. The cooks also did a great job the food was made to the top and well laid out. They also moved a lot of custumers in and out fast. Thank you! Also almost everything can be changed vegetarian/vegan.

Hotdog!! 🌭 The rumors are true! Live in Punta Gorda but heard that Venice was the place to get a good dog. Can’t beat service and selection. Such friendly staff. Awesome selection to satisfy any craving. They offer steamed, grilled or fried. Loved the sauerkraut on the New Yorker and chili with cheese sauce on the coney. Definitely coming back to try some different varieties. You should check out the Mad Dogs!! 👍
